Vertical Rock Formation

Sedimentary Rock was formed generally by deposition of sediments in the shallow sea and then went through high pressure and high temperature events. The layers should be horizontal. But the rock layers here are vertical, and can be seen clearly after erosion. Why ?
Our Earth had gone through upheavals and movements in the long history, and continue to do so. In another few million years, the directions of the rock formations will be different again.
