Shale Slope and Weathering

When the rocky Slope was just excavated for building road, it was neat and tidy. This rock is a sedimentary rock and is called Black Shale. Nowadays, in UK and USA, they even extract gas and oil from the Shale formation.

This Shale rock is easily weathered under rainfall and hot sun. Within ten years, the surface rock has broken down into thin pieces and fragments. This is how our Earth works; from lava to igneous rocks, from rocks to sediments, from sediments to sedimentary rocks, and back to sediments again.
At some areas like western shore of USA, the rock is forced down beneath the Continental plate and thus turn into magma again. Sometimes, it is hard to comprehend why this happens on Earth and not other solar planets.
