Metamorphosed Rock

One of my favourite hobbies is to study soils and rocks. You will be surprise to see the vast natural beauty under your feet.

It was also one of my jobs, to make sure the foundations of building and other structures were safe, I had to understand what laid beneath.

This rock sample was taken out about 18m below ground level in Kuching, Sarawak. It is called Phyllite. It was transformed from black Shale, a type of Sedimentary rock, due to temperature and pressure of the upward lava intrusion millions of year ago.
