How to construct a 40m length precast post-tensioned concrete bridge girder beam ? (5)

7. The precast beam is lifted from the casting yard to the storage yard. The ends of live anchorages are then sealed off with epoxy mortar and pressure grouting is applied through the grout holes into the cable ducts to drive out the air as well as to cement the empty space around the steel strands. Under stress, these steel strands are easily rusted.

8.  It can then be transported to the bridge site and launch onto the pier/abutment using lifting cranes at the land site and railing cranes in the sea. By the time, the transverse beams and deck slab are cast, the concrete has achieved its full designed strength.
